Saturday's Highlights: Release from Prison(s)

Following the recent releases, some detainees were released on Saturday, February 11th, as well, including Khaled Pirzadeh, sports trainer, from the city of Ahvaz. Photos after his release indicate significant weight loss, and his need to use a wheelchair. Pirzadeh had been on hunger strike since September 2022 and is now dealing with a variety of diseases due to the tortures he suffered by the authorities in prison.

Zara Mohammadi, another individual released on February 11th, published a video saying that she has never asked for ‘pardon’. Mohammadi was charged with five years in prison for teaching Kurdish language.


Human Rights Activists for Iran reports that at least 28 detainees have been released on February 11th.


While many names are among the released detainees, local sources report that very few to no individuals got released from under-represented ethnicities and small cities.


 

Copper Industry Strike

Copper mine employees in Kerman went on strike for the second day in a row. Minimum wage increase and proper insurance are their demands.


 

Anti-Regime Protests around the World

On February 11th, the anniversary of the Islamic Republic’s victory, protestors in different countries took to the streets to show their support for the people in Iran. Demonstrations were held in many cities including Toronto, Washington, Paris, London, Berlin and Stockholm.


Local sources report that only in Toronto, around 15000 people participated in the protests.


In Iran also, people continued their night chants from their houses with We don’t want the Islamic Republic.


 

Victory Looks Like a Falldown

Edaalat-e Ali Cyber group hacked the Islamic Republic broadcasting while covering the news about the anniversary of Islamic Republic’s victory. For a few seconds the national TV showedDeath to Khamenei'' messaging with an invitation for a national protest on February 17th. This disruption happened in the middle of president Raisi’s speech.


Edaalat-e Ali had hacked the news broadcasting another time on October 8th, 2022 showing the pictures of 4 girls murdered by the regime and “Woman, Life, Freedom” slogan.
