Continued Gas Crisis in Iran

The continuous temperature drop and gas supply problems in Iran have led to a significant increase in energy costs in some regions of the country. According to the MPs from the two cities of Sarab and Mianeh, the cost of gas in these two cities has increased up to 20 times

The government is struggling to manage this crisis and so far has tried to prevent gas outages in big cities by cutting off the gas supply in villages and outskirts of cities and closing offices, schools, and factories multiple times.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic announced that they sanctioned the editor of the Charlie Hebdo magazine for publishing Khamenei cartoons.

Hostage Taking

61 members of the European Parliament, in a joint letter, addressed to the senior officials of the European Union, asked them to use all the available means to release Olivier Vandecasteele, the Belgian aid worker detained in Iran. The signatories of this letter called the arrest of this Belgian citizen "arbitrary" and described his condition in prison as "completely inhumane and dire."

Olivier Vandecasteele was arrested in Iran by IRGC intelligence eleven months ago. The Revolutionary Court sentenced this Belgian aid worker to a total of 40 years in prison on charges of espionage, money laundering, and smuggling foreign currency.

Earlier Hadja Lahbib, Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs said: "Iran has provided no official information regarding the charges against Olivier Vandecasteele or his trial."

Discrediting The News

For years, the regime's cyber army has been carrying out vast projects on social media, especially on Twitter, to divert public minds and discredit news by spreading fake news.

Not long ago, news about the arrest, torture, and death sentence for a protester named "Hasan Firouzi" was published on social media by some accounts that use similar names to reputable human rights organizations. The authenticity of this case has been repeatedly questioned by independent journalists. Now, the judiciary of the regime has announced the arrest of an "economic offender" with this name while fleeing from Iran.

By pumping these fake news, the regime is trying to deny similar real cases and discredit the news of the prisoners and their critical situation.
