Monday's Highlights: “Court” Rulings

During the last few days, court decisions for detainees have been gradually announced. Detainees are being condemned with a minimum of 2 years in prison and banned from exiting the country. There are also some extreme charges, like amputating fingers or executions, which are the most concerning.

Pegah Fakhraie (33) is sentenced to 5 years in prison, exile, and banned from driving and exiting the country for 2 years.


Mehdi Mohammadi-Fard (18) is charged with Hiraba in Sari, north of Iran. Islamic Republic court sentenced him to two-time execution.


Other than Mehdi, 13 other individuals are sentenced to execution, and 73 others are charged with Hiraba and are in danger of death sentence.

Precious Lives in Danger

Mizan, the Islamic Regime's judiciary news agency, denied the news of the cancellation of the death sentence of Mohammad Boroughani and has announced that his sentence has been confirmed in the Supreme Court and there has been no change in this matter. This is while Mohammad Boroughani's inmates say that the cancellation of his sentence was registered in the prison system on Monday morning.


 

Armita Abbasi (22) has gone on a dry food strike to protest against her court session postponement by the regime’s judiciary. Armita was arrested in October 2022 during one of the protests. After 8 days of missing, she was transferred to Imam Ali Hospital in Karaj by the security forces. Her clinical records showed signs of torture, multiple sexual assaults, and rape. She was sent back to prison after 24 hours.

It has been more than 45 days since she got arrested by the IRGC forces, and her case is still in progress, without any information about her charges and the possible judiciary final call. She is kept in Fardis (Kachouei) prison in Karaj, Alborz province.


In the same prison, Elham Modarresi (32) has started a dry-food hunger strike since yesterday to protest the prolongation of the probe of her case and that she was not sent to the hospital to receive the required medical attention.

Death by Torture

Mehdi Zare Ashkzari died after 20 days in a coma. Mehdi Zare, who was a student in Bologna, Italy, was on a trip back to his country, Iran, and was arrested during the protests. Shortly after his release, he fell into a coma due to torture injuries.
