On Friday, February 3, people in Zahedan and Sanandaj came to the streets after Friday prayers in the 20th week of the uprising. Local sources reported that senior commanders of the security forces came to the streets of Zahedan to suppress the protesters.
Molavi Abdolhamid, Iran's top Sunni Cleric in Zahedan, criticized the regime and said, "Forced confessions are against human rights. Every human being, including prisoners, deserves respect."
Diplomatic Relations over Human Rights
According to The Times, Britain is holding off on listing IRGC as a terrorist organization due to consideration of diplomatic relations. Based on this report, Britain’s foreign ministers are concerned about losing access to diplomatic relations by announcing IRGC as a terrorist organization; therefore, this decision has been put on hold for now. This is while Iranians all over the world are demanding foreign countries to announce the terrorist nature of IRGC due to its 44-year history of oppression, murder, torture, and internal and international terrorism.
New Hijab Restrictions
Head of Tehran’s revolutionary court, Mousa Ghazanfarabadi, announced a new strategy to encounter women with “improper” hijab. Based on this plan, women who insist on not wearing a hijab will lose their ID cards and access to social services. This plan is yet to be confirmed by the parliament.
Farhad Meysami and His Fight
There have been many reactions following Farhad Meysami’s new photos from the prison and his health condition. Niloofar Hamedi, journalist, who is among the ones Meysami is demanding their freedom, asked him to break the hunger strike to avoid further harm to his health.
Meanwhile, the judiciary claims that Meysami is not on a full hunger strike and he is only consuming the minimum amount of food.
There’s a picture of Farhad Meysami holding three books, their titles became a new mantra in Iran’s protests: “Power of the Powerless”against “Oppression”is “The Way to Freedom”. He translated “The Nonviolence Handbook” by Michael N. Nagler to Persian in prison.
Released on Bail
Jafar Panahi, filmmaker, who was on hunger strike since February 1st, was temporarily released on bail from Evin prison.
