Both Soleimani and Mohammadnejad were accused of “collaboration with illegal organizations” and were sentenced to 6 years and 2 years and 8 months of prison respectively.

Progressive Charter from Iran

A collective of 20 Iranian unions, student organizations, and civil society groups inside the country released a charter of their demands.

With an emphasis on the important role of women and ethnicities in the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising, they stated their demands in twelve parts:

1- Immediate and unconditional release of political prisoners and prosecution of those who ordered and implemented the repression.

2- Unconditional freedom of speech, belief, media, and grassroots activities.

3- Immediate stop to execution and torture.

4- Equity between all members of the society in every aspect and validating the LGBTQIA+ community's existence and desires.

5- Religion should be a private matter and must not play a role in the country’s regulations.

6- Safety at work and increasing the salary of the service industry, including teachers, labor workers, and retirees.

7- Stop language, ethnicity, and religious discrimination.

8- Stop suppression and limit the government’s power by giving more power to people in terms of choosing their representatives.

9- Bringing back national wealth to invest in education, retirement facilities, environmental needs, and rural parts of the country.

10- Stop destroying the green environment.

11- Free education and medical services.

12- Normalization of foreign and international relations.

Say his Name

Hamid Qarahasanlou is experiencing a dreadful situation in prison due to cardiac and abdominal problems. However, authorities do not transfer him to a hospital to get the care and treatment he needs. In addition to his chronic illnesses, Qarahasanlou is still suffering from injuries caused by torture in prison. He and Farzaneh, his wife, were arrested on November 4, 2022, at their house. He and 19 other individuals have been accused of collaboration in the killing of a Basij force.

New Sanction Proposal

Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, said that she would suggest that the EU apply sanctions to those from the Islamic regime who financially helped Russia in Ukraine's war. According to von der Leyen, this sanction would be around 11.79 Billion Dollars and will prevent any technical progress in manufacturing drones, helicopters, and rockets.
