Despite the significant presence of the regime's forces in Zahedan, people once again came to the streets after Friday prayers. Footage circulating on social media shows a large crowd of people in the streets on Friday, January 20.

People again demanded the fall of the regime, and a democratic Iran in which all minorities have their representatives and their rights are respected and observed.

Britain Supporting Iranians

Britain parliamentarians announced their support of Iranian political detainees. Jeremy Corbyn, the Labor party’s former leader, and Caroline Lucas, the Green party’s leader, are among the most famous members who joined this campaign after meeting with Iranian activists.


 

Freedom of Speech

Toronto Star newspaper announced that the International Press Freedom Award from Canadian Journalists for Free Expression would be dedicated to Niloofar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi from Iran on February 15. This award has a history of advocating for the rights of journalists and a free press over the past 40 years inside and outside of Canada.


Niloofar Hamedi is the journalist who first published Mahsa Jina Amini’s death story, and Elaheh Mohammadi is the journalist who covered the events of Mahsa Jina Amini’s funeral. They are both in Qarchak prison at the moment. These two journalists have repeatedly published reports and news about women’s rights and women’s oppression in Iran.


Statistically, Islamic Republic has the most detained journalists in the world, imprisoning 363 journalists in 2022.
